Help my mercedes v230 starts then dies ?

hi i am at my wits end have tried everthing, car was running fine its a v class 99 T reg automatic, was running great with no probs filled tank up as fuel was low, left garage got about 200 yards car began to splutter and die, tried to restart several time does the same, starts then dies have checked fuel lines filter exhaust . Please anyone got any ideas thanx angie
